Post-Workout Nutrition

Hi everyone! I want introduce the concept of post-workout nutrition (protein) to some of you.

As we continue to go the gym, post workout nutrition is very important for growing muscle. In the gym, you are actively breaking your muscles fibers apart. Protein is a macronutrient that basically is used for everything in our body from transporting hormones to the transcription of DNA (for my Life Sci kids out there). Protein is also very important for repairing the broken-down muscle tissues caused by exercise, as well as activating synthesis to increase or maintain muscle mass. When you skip out on your post workout meal, you are not letting your body repair microtears and damage. You’re gonna get weaker and your muscles will remain damaged which will develop into a serious injury, putting major setbacks on your progress.

So, if you’re looking to get those gains, make sure that you are consuming the right amount of proteins that your body needs to rebuild. It is suggested to consume 1.4 to 1.8g per kg of bodyweight to satisfy your daily needs. An easy way to fulfill your post-gym needs is a nice nutrient filled meal or a protein shake (i.e., protein powder). Protein powder is a safe and convenient way to increase protein intake. If you are interested in protein powder, feel free to reach out to a trainer on protein suggestions. In case you want to read more about it, I added a link at the bottom that you can check out.

Ok, that’s my spiel.

Good luck on your exams!!
